Richard Kelly
Chartered Physiotherapist & Director
MSC Physiotherapy
Richard is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist and Director at Mode Physiotherapy. He qualified in 2003 from Keele University with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and initially worked at Nottingham City Hospital. In 2005 he decided to specialise in musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy and has continued to work within this specialism every since.
In 2013 he completed his post-graduate MSc in Physiotherapy and this enabled him to work within an Advanced Practice clinical setting, diagnosing and managing patients with more complex conditions. These roles involve additional clinical skills such as injection therapy, access to diagnostic imaging (e.g. X-Ray and MRI) or direct listing for spinal injection procedures. Alongside his work with Mode Physiotherapy, he continues to work as the Clinical Lead for a large NHS organisation. He has extensive specialist experience in the diagnosis and management of a range of musculoskeletal conditions such as spinal, hip, knee and shoulder problems. Having spent a large amount of his career in a variety of clinical settings, he has seen the importance of working closely with patients to reassure and empower them to return to the activities they enjoy.
Richard has a keen interest in education and has previously worked as a lecturer-practitioner at the University of Nottingham. He continues to guest lecture on both their undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation courses. Over the years he has also provided training sessions to GP’s across Nottingham on the management of conditions such low back pain and shoulder problems.
When not working as a Physiotherapist, Richard enjoys running, playing golf and football as well as pottering in his garden. He’s also an FA Qualified Football Coach and manages his daughter’s football team.
